After the girl had helped the apple tree get its apples harvested, the sweets to be given to the children, and the French baker to make his bread and rolls, Frau Holde comes to meet and greet her.

She invites her into her home, and asks if she'd be willing to help her with the household chores, mainly with airing her feather duvets and shaking them and fluffing them up.
The girl, always willing to help and to work, fluffs up Frau Holde's beds and the feathers begin to flow and arrive on earth as snow flakes.
And when they shake and fluff enough, they can see the snowflakes dance:
Soon first the small ones arrive and...

...dance.
And soon enough they get bigger and bigger and dance and dance.
